“The foot is noble. To walk is noble. Thanks to the feet, the child who already walks can expect of the outdoors certain answers to his secret questions.”
~Maria Montessori

CONFERENCES

AMI-EAA provides for its members two very different annual events for professional growth and development. Born in the 1970s from the need for elementary Montessori teachers to come together and learn from one another, the Annual Summer Conference offers participants a full week for sharing expertise, making classroom materials, asking questions and connecting with a passionate community of colleagues. Normally held in late June or July, summer conferences offer a small, intimate workshop for thirty to fifty participants, some of whom bring their families to enjoy the natural setting of the conference location. The annual membership meeting, which provides direction for the organization, is held at the Summer Conference.

The Refresher Course was pioneered by AMI-EAA and has been co-sponsored by AMI-USA since 1987. It is held over Presidents’ Day Weekend in February and consists of formal presentations by elementary teacher-trainers and lecturers. The Refresher Course provides a focused, in-depth review and exploration of one area of the curriculum.
