Job description: August, 2023 opening for a Lead Elementary Guide in Duluth, Minnesota at a well respected Montessori school that has served the community for over 30 years. We are seeking a strong candidate to lead our Elementary Classroom with children in their 1st year to 4th year.
Candidate qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in elementary education or early childhood or related field.
Ability to pass a background check.
Is working toward or possesses a Montessori Diploma;
At least one years of prior elementary teaching or primary Montessori experience preferred;
Has the ability to lead a multi-age group of 1st—4th graders;
Has a positive attitude and respect for children
Enjoys working in a small school setting
Responsibilities:
Provides a safe and warm environment to encourage optimal development of children ages 6-12 using Montessori principles.
Observes behaviors and maintains records
Models grace and courtesy
Attends open houses and teacher in-service or training as directed by head of school
Carries out all specific procedures and responsibilities as outlined by the MSD Staff Handbook and MSD Policies and Procedures
Inspire learning through the Montessori Cosmic Education
Provides presentations, lessons and group gatherings that meet the needs of each child
Make needed materials and plan activities
Works with local resources and school district to meet the needs of a child if they require an IEP or 504 Plan
Reports accidents and concerns immediately to Head of School
Communicates with families bi-weekly through email or classroom app on general happenings in the classroom
Model professionalism and leadership in the classroom
Benefits:
Retirement – MSD will enroll the employee in a 403b after 1 year of employment. MSD will match employee contribution up to 5% of employee income.
Paid Time Off – Full Time Salaried Employees will receive all days off that ISD709 has off, including holidays and breaks.
Paid Sick Days – 64 hours of sick and safe time per year.
Personal & Professional Days – One day can be taken per semester in coordination with the Head of School. Employee is responsible for finding a substitute.
Child Care – 100% tuition remission for 2 children.
